Carolina Panthers cuts: Seth Roberts (WR)

Another candidate to get his marching orders from the Carolina Panthers without ever seeing the field is Seth Roberts. The wide receiver signed a one-year, $3.75 million deal in free agency. But only $600,000 of this is guaranteed.

This represents a saving of $3.15 million for the Panthers, which might make it even more enticing to part ways with Roberts due to their current financial predicament. There is plenty of competition for places behind star trio D.J. Moore, Robby Anderson, and Curtis Samuel. So the No. 4 wideout battle is going to be must-watch in training camp.

The likes of Keith Kirkwood and Pharoh Cooper will also have serious ambitions of making an impression in 2020. And the latter’s kick returning prowess makes him a lock to make the roster.7

There is also the intrigue surrounding undrafted free-agent duo Omar Bayless and TreVontae Hights. Both come with a significant upside. And it will be interesting to see how they adjust to life at the next level after some prolific production in college.

Roberts was used sparingly with the Baltimore Ravens last season on his way to 21 receptions, 271 receiving yards, and two touchdowns. There is no disputing his ability to make things happen when given the opportunity. But he could end up being the odd man out thanks to other playmakers around him.
