Carolina Panthers: Top 5 priorities for contract extensions in 2021
By Dean Jones
5. Carolina Panthers 2021 extension: Efe Obada (DE)
There is a lot to like about the way Efe Obada goes about his business. His fun-loving demeanour is matched by a ferocious attitude on the field that has gone down a storm with the fanbase of the Carolina Panthers.
Obada is set to be part of the defensive line rotation once again after signing a one-year extension worth $750,000 this offseason. There is real cause for encouragement that he can make an impact in Carolina’s 4-3 base scheme on the edge or operating on the interior when required.
If he can prove his worth once again in 2020. Then the Panthers will have no other alternative other than to give Obada a multi-year deal. He still has a few good years of production left. And if terms cannot be agreed between both parties then he will not be short of offers on the free-agent market.
The Panthers’ front seven looks to be an area of considerable strength head into next season. And if they perform as expected it is going to completely revitalize this particular area of the field that struggled mightily in 2019.
Obada is sure to play his part in any success that comes their way. But it is vital the Nigerian-born player makes the most out of any opportunities that come his way. If he can do this, then his stay in Carolina could be a long one.
