2. Carolina Panthers 2021 extension: Curtis Samuel (WR)

The Carolina Panthers showed the commitment to Curtis Samuel when they decided not to trade the wide receiver during the NFL Draft. This represented a tremendous leap of faith in the player, who will be looking to build on some career numbers when competitive action gets underway.

Samuel is set to spend a lot of time in the slot in 2020 as part of a formidable-looking wideout trio that also consists of D.J. Moore and Robby Anderson. He is also set to benefit from the arrival of offensive coordinator Joe Brady, who masterminded LSU’s historic passing attack on their way to a National Championship last season.

Everything is in place for Samuel to have a real breakout season. He has suffered some niggling injuries since the player entered the NFL as a second-round pick. And now is the time for him to deliver.

There is a significant amount of potential regarding the ways in which Brady can get the most out of Samuel next season. He is a dynamic threat with the ball in his hands. And this can be evident in both passing or running situations.

If the player shows more promise in 2020, then he can be expected to be rewarded financially. Samuel will attract considerable interest on the free-agent market. So the Panthers need to make the receiver one of their highest priorities once the campaign concludes.

He might even be offered a new deal before then, which is going to come with a substantial pay rise from his $1.22 million in base salary next season.
