Three reasons why former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton to the Cleveland Browns makes sense.

Former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton looked in top shape during his latest workout video posted on social media. The 2015 NFL MVP showcased his skillset during a session alongside Cleveland Browns’ wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

NFL staff are now returning to team facilities in a restricted fashion due to the current climate. Things could start to heat up when it comes to Newton and his next possible destination. The Carolina Panthers parted ways with the player at a time when starting opportunities were limited. But there is little doubt that he could still offer something providing his shoulder and foot problems are no longer a concern.

Working out with Beckham Jr. has also fuelled speculation linking Newton with a move to Cleveland. New head coach Kevin Stefanski did sign free-agent quarterback Case Keenum to be Baker Mayfield’s backup this offseason. But there is little doubt that the former No. 1 overall pick represents a significant upgrade on what they currently have.

If the Browns want to make this particular move, then they do have the financial resources to make it happen. Cleveland boasts a little more than $37 million in salary-cap space currently. Although a few of their big-name stars could be on the lookout for a bumper deal next spring.

Newton would probably accept a short-term deal loaded with incentives given his current situation. And he represents an intriguing proposition for the Browns’ roster that massively underachieved in 2019.

Here are three reasons why Cleveland should consider signing Newton next season.
