Greg Olsen is renowned for being one of the smartest players on the field. He was always very methodical in his approach with the Carolina Panthers. And this is something that gave him a significant edge on the field.
His meticulous preparation for every game has played a substantial part in his longevity and achievements during his career. Olsen always knew the weak spot in an opposing defense. And he took advantage of this more often than not.
The player was never one to go into a contest not knowing what to expect. Olsen’s input during team meetings is well known and something that the Panthers will surely miss going forward.
Not only did Olsen’s intelligence and professional approach give him an edge. It also played a huge part in getting other teammates ready for specific challenges.

This has no doubt played a substantial role in Ian Thomas’ development. And Carolina will be hoping that this will result in similar production from a player that will now be given the chance to make a starting position his own for the foreseeable future.
The Panthers are lacking in any veteran leadership across the board following a large number of departures this offseason. This has the potential to set the organization back. But it also represents a chance for others to thrive with some extra responsibility on their shoulders.
