Carolina Panthers: OPOY Award candidate – D.J. Moore (WR)

It appears as if the sky is the limit for D.J. Moore in 2020. The wide receiver reached a significant milestone last season by reaching the 1,000-yard mark for the first time. And this was even more impressive when one considers the lack of efficient quarterback play getting him the ball.

The Carolina Panthers look better set on offense going into the new campaign. This bodes extremely well for Moore as he looks to take another giant leap forward to becoming one of the NFL’s most productive wideouts.

Everything seems to be trending on an upward curve for the former first-round pick. He has Robby Anderson on the other side of the field, a more consistent quarterback in Teddy Bridgewater and an offensive coordinator in Joe Brady that masterminded LSU’s historic passing attack last season on their way to a National Championship.

Moore will probably get more attention from opposing defenses in 2020. But given the presence of Christian McCaffrey in the Panthers’ backfield, there will still be plenty of space in which to work.

If the player can make more strides, then this should put him in consideration for Offensive Player of the Year. Somewhere in the region of 1,400-yards receiving is now a realistic target for Moore. And this would surely come with some financial rewards.

He is heading into the penultimate year of his rookie deal and will make a $1.45 million base salary in 2020. A huge payday could be in the offing next spring if Moore lives up to lofty expectations during the campaign.
