Which teams are favored to land former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton?
The Carolina Panthers parted ways with former quarterback Cam Newton in controversial fashion this offseason. This has left the player short of options regarding an immediate starting spot. And it is still up in the air in terms of which team is going to eventually take the player on.
There is a chance that things will be a little quicker regarding Newton’s next destination when training camp gets underway. This always comes with a player suffering an injury. And this could be the opening that the signal-caller needs as he begins his quest to prove the Carolina Panthers wrong.
Newton has all the tools needed to make a significant impact on whatever team he lands on next. He was playing at a high-level before foot and shoulder injuries took their toll during his final 18 months in Carolina. And the 2015 NFL MVP looks raring to go if his recent social media posts are any indication.
His workout with Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. got the rumor mill buzzing once again. But until teams can conduct their own individual medical assessments, then there is a high likelihood Newton will remain on the proverbial scrapheap.
Speculation will continue to mount the closer week one gets regarding a player that was the face of the NFL for a brief period. Outside of pass-rusher Jadeveon Clowney, Newton is the biggest name on the free-agent market currently, and acquiring the player is going to come with significant media attention.
