Carolina Panthers trade target: David Njoku (TE)

The Cleveland Browns made one of the biggest signings in free agency when they made a move to prise Austin Hooper from the Atlanta Falcons. Adding the pass-catching tight end further bolstered their offensive weapons that also consists of Odell Beckham Jr., Jarvis Landry, and Nick Chubb.

There were reports that Hooper’s arrival might spell the end of David Njoku’s time with the franchise. But despite receiving numerous calls for the player this offseason. They have yet to get an offer that matches their asking price.

This is an area that the Carolina Panthers might be looking to strengthen going into the season. They lost veteran Greg Olsen to the Seattle Seahawks. And they have gone all-in on Ian Thomas’ potential to make a significant leap forward with a more prominent role.

Njoku has had trouble staying healthy in recent seasons. But there is little doubting the sort of things he brings to the table. He is a superb athlete for his size and possesses tremendous hand-eye coordination in tight windows.

The former first-round selection is going into the penultimate year of his deal. And faces a considerable fight for targets thanks to Hooper’s presence on the roster. The Browns would likely want a third or fourth-round pick in return. And it is something definitely worth exploring from Carolina’s perspective providing his problems staying on the field are behind him.
