Carolina Panthers Draft: Jon Beason (LB)

Another impressive selection from Marty Hurney was Jon Beason. The player came into the NFL as the 25th overall pick in 2007. And he instantly became a supreme tackler that lived up to his potential from the off.

Beason earned a first-team All-Pro selection in only his second campaign as a professional. He spent six years with the organization before he was eventually traded to the New York Giants for a late-round pick. But that should not detract from what a superb player he became for the Panthers.

Carolina Panthers Draft: Josh Norman (CB)

Josh Norman was an unfancied fifth-round pick for the Carolina Panthers back in 2012. But this proved to be a masterstroke from Marty Hurney.

The cornerback quickly evolved into a shutdown corner with some elite production. And this seemed to go to his head somewhat before he was shipped out in free agency for a big-money deal with the Washington Redskins.

Things did not go according to plan for Norman in a different environment. But his time in Carolina will eventually be remembered with fondness despite the way he eventually departed.

Carolina Panthers Draft: Ryan Kalil (C)

Another outstanding selection from Marty Hurney was taking Ryan Kalil in the second round in 2007. The center became a plug and play starter at the next level and will go down as one of the best offensive linemen in Carolina Panthers’ history.

He was a formidable force on the line of scrimmage and was incredibly tough to move off the block. Kalil was also an exceptional communicator on the field. And although he came out of retirement with the New York Jets for a brief period. He will always be fondly remembered by those who saw him play in Carolina.
