Which members of the Detroit Lions roster could the Carolina Panthers possibly acquire via trade?

The Carolina Panthers managed to completely change the direction of the franchise during an unprecedented offseason of activity. This has left them with an unrecognizable roster from that which finished the 2019 season. And they have a brand new coaching staff to guide them through this period of transition.

No matter how talented the young players on the Carolina Panthers appear to be on paper. Getting out on the field and proving your worth is another matter entirely. The organization isn’t expected to mount anything like a postseason challenge in 2020. So developing their chemistry without taking too much of a knock in confidence is going to be crucial.

Continuing our series looking at trade targets from each NFL team, we now turn our attention to the Detroit Lions. The franchise were also-rans in the NFC North once again last season despite starting encouragingly. And a big campaign awaits head coach Matt Patricia in his second year at the helm.

Much will depend on the fortunes of quarterback Matthew Stafford, who appears to be in a crossroads with the organization in 2020. The Lions have an out regarding the former No. 1 overall pick’s contract next spring, so the onus will be on the signal-caller to leave no doubt about his ability to get the team back to prominence.

Stafford does have some considerable tools to work with. Wide receiver trio Marvin Jones, Kenny Golladay, and Danny Amendola can all make valuable contributions. And their running game has been boosted with the draft pick of D’Andre Swift out of Georgia.

They could also have a true shutdown cornerback on their hands with No. 3 overall selection Jeff Okudah. But whether this brings an immediate turnaround remains to be seen. Here are three players that the Panthers could target via the trade market to improve their fortunes.
