Carolina Panthers trade target: Lucas Patrick (OL)

Another suspect area of the Carolina Panthers is their offensive line. It has undergone a makeover in pursuit of a change in fortunes. But there are some questions to answer regarding a group that will not get much chance to develop chemistry before competitive action gets underway.

Russell Okung comes to the organization after he was traded in exchange for Panthers’ Pro Bowl guard Trai Turner. This has left the interior without its most prominent blocking presence. And whether the likes of John Miller and Michael Schofield can step in to fill the void remains to be seen.

This crucial area of the field might be an area that Carolina could boost in the trade market before the deadline. And Lucas Patrick represents an intriguing option that might not cost the earth to acquire.

The lineman can operate either and center or guard. And the Panthers have a need for both positions if Matt Paradis continues his regression after a disappointing 2019. Although Patrick has seen limited time on their field. He has yet to give up a sack in more than 400 snaps and is only going to get better with more experience.

Patrick recently signed a new two-year deal. But with little chance of starting next season. The Green Bay Packers might be tempted by a mid-round offer to get a deal done.
