Who are three overhypes rookies on the Carolina Panthers roster heading into training camp and the 2020 season?

The Carolina Panthers didn’t have many selections in the 2020 NFL Draft. But they wasted no time in making history with their picks.

Their all-defense draft was an NFL first. And few would argue that this was something that the Carolina Panthers desperately needed to reinforce their threadbare options following a host of veteran departures.

Only time will tell as to whether this is going to pay dividends for the franchise in 2020 and beyond. All seven incoming prospects have some eye-catching skills to work with. But whether they can make a transition to the next level remains to be seen.

New head coach Matt Rhule has a vast knowledge of the college system from his time at Baylor and Temple. So this definitely played to his advantage throughout the evaluation process.

It is going to be a baptism of fire for the rookie class and undrafted free-agents given their lack of on-field preparation time before the season opener. And how they emerge from this is going to tell us plenty about what each individual can bring to the Panthers in the long-term.

Some have received more hype than others. And this can bring its own pressure going in. Having the extra attention will put more of a bullseye on their backs. Which could lead to additional problems if they’re not up to the task.

Here are three Panthers’ rookies that could be classed as overhyped going into 2020.
