Carolina Panthers: 3 trade targets from the Houston Texans

Carolina Panthers trade target: Deshaun Watson (QB)
This might be the most ambitious way the Carolina Panthers could go to improve their roster. But who’s to say Bill O’Brien won’t contemplate offers for a player that has expressed his displeasure at recent moves made by the Houston Texans.
Deshaun Watson is no stranger to the Carolinas having enjoyed a standout spell in college with Clemson. He has made the smoothest of transitions to the next level. And he can be classed as one of the NFL’s best.

Imagine the Panthers’ offense under Joe Brady with Watson under center. Teddy Bridgewater might be a very useful signal-caller. But he is not at the same level as the former first-round pick.
This sort of move would send shockwaves across the NFL. Watson is held in the highest regard. But the player has become somewhat disillusioned with the direction of the organization in recent months.
Losing his primary target DeAndre Hopkins has plenty to do with it. And this situation becomes even more complicated when one considers Watson’s current contract situation.
The player had his fifth-year option picked up, which will see the gunslinger make north of $17 million in base salary in 2021. However, if Watson shows no desire to pen a new deal under the current regime. Then the organization needs to maximize what they get in return for a franchise star.
This would result in nothing short of a king’s ransom. But the benefits of such a move would be untold and could make the Panthers’ instant contenders.
