Who could be candidates to be cut by the Carolina Panthers if the NFL decides to trim down rosters before training camp gets underway?

The Carolina Panthers have plenty of questions to answer regarding their roster in 2020. The team looks unrecognizable from that which finished last season. And it is going to be extremely interesting to see how things transpire when competitive action gets underway.

How this group comes together during training camp is going to go a long way to determining their fortunes. This will be the first scenario that the Carolina Panthers will come together in a face-to-face setting. And they aren’t going to have much time together to hone cohesion before their week one opener against the Las Vegas Raiders.

The current climate is something that the NFL is monitoring closely. And a recent report suggested that the league is considering the option of trimming down training camp rosters from 90 to around 75 or 80.

This would reduce the number of players that teams will be tasked with managing regarding social distancing measures. But it leaves those looking for a fair shot of making the 53-man roster out of luck.

New head coach Matt Rhule will have to make some difficult decisions if this proposal comes to fruition. And that is even before he has seen most of them on the field. The former Baylor man has freely admitted the fact he has only met around 20 of Carolina’s roster. This number would have been far less had he not brought in some trusted players that worked with him at Temple and Baylor.

Cutting down a camp roster might be a safer option. But it is a harsh situation for those looking to make their way in the NFL. Here are five players that could become sacrificial lambs if the league ends up taking these measures.
