Carolina Panthers: 5 players that could be cut before training camp
By Dean Jones
Carolina Panthers Player No. 3: Myles Adams (DL)
Another area of real strength going into the season for the Carolina Panthers is their defensive line. Major improvements have been made and this has the potential to completely transform their fortunes under defensive coordinator Phil Snow.
Most of the positions look relatively set going into training camp. So if the Panthers receive instructions from the NFL to trim their roster ahead of training camp, then Myles Adams could be the odd one out.
The player is looking to forge an NFL career after going undrafted in 2020. But he could be one that finds out quickly just what a brutal business it can be.
Adams showed glimpses of promise at Rice University and finished his time in college with 90 combined tackles, 51 solo tackles, 4.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and one pass deflection. This was not enough for the player to hear his name called. So he could be one of the Panthers’ sacrifices if they are forced into these measures in the coming weeks.
Kawann Short and No. 7 overall pick Derrick Brown are cemented as the starters next season. This would leave Woodrow Hamilton, Zach Kerr, and sixth-rounder Bravvion Roy fighting for spots on the rotation. There is even the option of moving Efe Obada into the interior in pass-rushing situations.
This obviously leaves Adams on the outside looking in regarding his chances. And he will be hoping that the NFL does not follow through with this proposal.
