Carolina Panthers No. 72: Assessing Taylor Moton’s market value
By Dean Jones
How much is Taylor Moton worth to the Carolina Panthers?
If Taylor Moton continues to prove his worth as an offensive tackle with elite potential. Then the Carolina Panthers will have a player they can count on for a considerable period of time.
This will almost certainly come with a substantial pay rise. And just how much the player will be paid will ultimately come down to how he performs on the field this season.
It is already evident that Moton has outplayed his rookie contract. And there is even a chance the player gets extended before the season gets underway. However, given the Panthers’ salary cap constraints currently, any extension is probably going to come once the current 2020 campaign concludes.
There is a chance that with another season of quality production under his belt, Moton could become one of the NFL’s highest-paid offensive linemen. Spotrac predicts the player to command an annual salary of $14 million per season on a four-year, $56.39 million deal when he gets his new contract.
This is something that Carolina could afford next spring. Russell Okung’s $13 million is coming off the books. And it remains unlikely his stay with the organization is going to keep him around.
The money used can be used to pay Moton the money he will undoubtedly deserve. His best years are definitely ahead of him. And there is also the prospect of him getting even better with a possible move over to left tackle.
