Carolina Panthers: 4 players who could bounce back in 2020
By Dean Jones
Carolina Panthers Player No. 1: Dennis Daley (OL)
To say that Dennis Daley went through some complications as a rookie would be something of an understatement. The offensive tackle was thrown into the lion’s den by the Carolina Panthers. And he did not cope well under the pressure.
That being said, it is a little too soon to write off his chances of making a success of his NFL career. Daley is a burly figure who is still raw in terms of development. But how much his first-year as a pro has impacted him from a confidence perspective remains to be seen.
It would be foolish for the Panthers to continue thinking of Daley as a tackle at the present time. This is something that might change down the road. At least for the time being, slotting the player into the interior is going to do his chances of a prolonged career good.
He does have good size and strength to make a real go of things at guard. But the arrivals of Michael Schofield and John Miller means he will be fighting for a starting spot heading into camp.
Daley has all the skills needed to become a force. And the former sixth-round pick might still be a steal for the Panthers. However, is has already proven to be detrimental putting too much on his shoulders. So he will have to prove willing and able to do what is necessary.
If Daley can demonstrate to the coaching staff he is capable of being a starter in 2020. Then it could result in a bounce-back campaign for the player.
