Carolina Panthers: 3 players who could make the Madden cover
Carolina Panthers Player No. 1: Christian McCaffrey (RB)
Let’s start with the most obvious member of the Carolina Panthers that has Madden cover potential. Christian McCaffrey has risen to prominence during his first three years in the NFL. And he is now officially the face of the franchise after quarterback Cam Newton was moved on.
The former first-round pick out of Stanford has more than lived up to his billing so far. His electrifying style of play makes him a threat to score every time he touches the ball. And he is now the best dual-threat back in the NFL by some margin.
McCaffrey almost single-handedly kept Carolina competitive in 2019. He totaled more than 400 touches on his way to becoming the third player in NFL history to reach 1,000-yards rushing and receiving during a memorable campaign.
This earned the player a four-year, $64 million contract to make him the highest-paid running back in league history. McCaffrey is now tied to the Panthers for his best years. And there is a chance he could get even better in the dynamic attack set to be unleashed by new offensive coordinator Joe Brady.
If McCaffrey can reach new heights, then he is a strong contender for a Madden cover sooner rather than later. There is plenty of competition for the prestigious honor going forward. But the back will always be high on the shortlist providing he keeps up his exceptional level of production.
