Carolina Panthers: 3 players who could make the Madden cover
By Dean Jones
Carolina Panthers Player No. 3: Teddy Bridgewater (QB)
The NFL is full of inspiring stories. And this is especially evident when one considers the journey Teddy Bridgewater has been on to get another starting opportunity with the Carolina Panthers.
He was a promising signal-caller that looked set to lead the Minnesota Vikings on a Super Bowl run until a freak training camp injury almost cost Bridgewater his career. His road back was long and eventually saw the player return to the field for Mike Zimmer’s men before he signed a deal with the New York Jets.
This came with mixed success, which tends to be the case when a player suffers the sort of leg injury inflicted on the former first-round pick. Bridgewater remained resolute and joined the New Orleans Saints. But chances were limited behind Drew Brees which made it even more essential to take advantage of something that came his way.
To say he did this would be something of an understatement. Bridgewater went 5-0 in the Hall of Fame-bound quarterback’s absence in 2019. And this was enough to convince the Panthers to commit to a three-year, $63 million deal with a $15 million signing bonus and $33 million guaranteed.
If Bridgewater can lead Carolina back to prominence and produce the sort of numbers that he is capable of. Then getting a future Madden cover would not be entirely out of the question.
The last thing Bridgewater needs is the “Madden Curse” hanging over him. But this would be a great marketing tool for the brand if the player exceeds his ceiling.
