Which members of the Carolina Panthers could be talented enough to get ten-year deals from the franchise?

The NFL world was buzzing with excitement with the news that Patrick Mahomes received the biggest contract in North American sports history this week. The 2018 NFL MVP and Super Bowl winner could make around $503 million during this period. And he is one of the more daunting prospects facing the Carolina Panthers in 2020.

This represents a substantial commitment to a player that has become the face of the NFL in just three years as a professional. The Carolina Panthers did have the chance to take him at No. 8 overall in the 2017 Draft. But they struck gold regardless thanks to their selection of All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey.

Whether some members of the Panthers’ organization could get such a lengthy extension is another matter entirely. There are some who are currently fighting for their respective futures under a new regime. And how they get on during the first year of head coach Matt Rhule’s rebuild is going to be crucial for their overall ambitions.

Ten-year contracts are normally reserved for those that have franchise-changing capabilities. Players such as Michael Vick, Drew Bledsoe, Daunte Culpepper, Brett Favre, and Donovan McNabb all received this length of deal and in some cases, the extension was even longer.

With so much uncertainty surrounding the current roster. It appears extremely unlikely that Carolina would be willing to make such a commitment at this stage.

However, it is an intriguing question to ask. And here are four members of the organization that would be worthy of such a commitment.
