Carolina Panthers All-Time RBs: Christian McCaffrey (No. 1)

Although he has just three seasons under his belt, it is hard to despite the fact that Christian McCaffrey is the greatest ever running back to have played for the Carolina Panthers.

The former first-round pick out of Stanford has made a lasting impression from the moment he stepped onto the field. McCaffrey has put up some historic numbers that could see the dual-threat end up in the Pro Football Hall of Fame if he continues in this manner.

There is nothing that McCaffrey cannot do with the ball in his hands. He has carried the Panthers over the last two seasons. And in 2019 he became only the third player in NFL history to go over 1,000-yards rushing and receiving in the same season.

If the Panthers can keep McCaffrey fresh for the foreseeable future, then this is going to give them the best possible chance to succeed. There are plenty of playmakers in the passing game to take some of the load off. But their prized asset will continue to be the focal point for as long as he is producing.

In just three seasons in Carolina, McCaffrey has gained 2,920 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns on 623 carries. The All-Pro has also grabbed 303 receptions for 2,523 receiving yards to further heighten his overall influence.

McCaffrey is now the face of the franchise following the departure of quarterback Cam Newton. And there is nothing to suggest that the player is more than ready for such a responsibility.
