Carolina Panthers: 4 underhyped rookies heading into 2020

Carolina Panthers Player No. 1: Yetur Gross-Matos (DE)
The Carolina Panthers got a real steal with edge rusher Yetur Gross-Matos at No. 38 overall. The former Penn State sensation somehow fell out of the first round. And the organization wasted no time in calling his name to further bolster their front seven.
There is plenty to like about the sort of skills that Gross-Matos brings to the Panthers. He is tremendously gifted physically and possesses an electrifying burst that proved devastating at the college level.
Gross-Matos will need to make additions to his pass-rushing repertoire in order to hit the ground running. But there will not be any immediate pressure for him to making a leading impression thanks to the presence of Stephen Weatherly and Brian Burns on the edge.
That being said, Gross-Matos might see some time starting in specialist situations. And his versatility could also see the player switch to the outside linebacker spot on occasions.
Everything is in place for Gross-Matos to be a huge success in Carolina. But the selection seems to have gone under the radar somewhat compared to the likes of Jeremy Chinn and No. 7 overall pick Derrick Brown.
This will give the pass-rusher another chip on his shoulder. It is something he can use to his advantage. And if Gross-Matos reaches his potential, it will be yet another masterstroke in the draft from general manager Marty Hurney.
