Carolina Panthers: 3 staff members who could get head coaching jobs
By Dean Jones
Carolina Panthers staff member No. 1: Joe Brady (OC)
The Carolina Panthers have a coach with real potential on their hands in Joe Brady. Their new offensive coordinator comes into the organization with a big reputation. And his arrival could propel the offense to a completely different level.
Brady was the passing coordinator at LSU last season and revolutionized their offense. They enjoyed the finest season statistically in college football history. And he also transformed quarterback Joe Burrow from an NFL Draft afterthought to the consensus No. 1 overall pick to the Cincinnati Bengals in 2020.
If he can make the same sort of impact with the wealth of offensive weapons available in Carolina, then Brady will be sure to get some attention during head coaching interviews as soon as next spring. He is a progressive young mind that also spent time working under Sean Payton with the New Orleans Saints, which also saw him spent time with new Panthers’ quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.
This relationship is going to be crucial for the Panthers going forward. Bridgewater is accurate enough to make the most out of Brady’s high-octane scheme. And this has the scope to put up some serious numbers in 2020 and possibly beyond.
Much will depend on how Carolina’s offensive line performs. But the likes of Christian McCaffrey, D.J. Moore, Robby Anderson, Curtis Samuel, and Ian Thomas should all benefit considerably from Brady’s arrival next season.
It’s clear that Brady is destined for great things. And NFL teams have been willing to give those with less experience head coaching jobs more in recent years.
