Carolina Panthers Player No. 1: D.J. Moore (WR)

One could argue that D.J. Moore is now the second most important player on offense behind Christian McCaffrey. You could throw Teddy Bridgewater into the mix given the position he plays. But the wide receiver is coming off a career-year and could enter superstar status with another strong campaign for the Carolina Panthers in 2020.

Players tend to show out more during the third year in the NFL. They have acquired enough experience by this point to make a real difference. And this is something that applies to Moore.

If the wideout can take another leap forward with a more consistent signal-caller distributing the ball in Bridgewater. There is no telling what the former first-round pick can go on to achieve.

New offensive coordinator Joe Brady would be foolish not to make Moore the primary passing weapon during his time in Carolina. The player has already proven more than capable of shouldering this sort of responsibility in troubled times. And if he performs as expected next year it is going to come with some high expectations in terms of a longer deal.

Moore is heading into the penultimate year of his initial rookie deal. And there is little doubt that the Panthers will pick up his fifth-year option. That might give them more time when it comes to offering the receiver an extension. But they might also decide to strike while they can to avoid another unnecessary distraction for the player and the organization.

Another year of quality production is going to come with substantial financial rewards for Moore. His importance to the team will be almost unrivaled by this point. And he can use this to his advantage during negotiations.
