Panthers Player No. 2: Penei Sewell (OT) – Oregon

Another player that wouldn’t need any further tape in order to secure a high-end selection is Penei Sewell. The Oregon offensive tackle is as dominant a force as you are likely to see at the college level. And he is a prospect that already has Pro Bowl or better ceiling.

There is every chance that Sewell goes No. 1 overall if the team picking is happy with their quarterback situation. He is a quick-footed protector on the edge that plays every snap with a ruthlessness that is seldom seen in someone so young.

Sewell protected Justin Herbert’s blind side with aplomb last season to emerge as college football’s best lineman. If the season does end up getting canceled due to the current climate. It should not hamper the player’s chances of making a name for himself from the word go in the NFL.

The prospect rose to prominence during his sophomore campaign where he didn’t give up a single sack from 926 snaps. Sewell rose his game even further in 2019 on his way to the Outland Trophy and the Pac-12 co-offensive player of the year.

Carolina faces plenty of questions surrounding their current lineman. One could make a case for four of the five projected starters in 2020 moving on next spring. Right tackle Taylor Moton will also be looking for elite money with another season of quality production.

Adding Sewell would give the Panthers a bookend tackle for the next decade or beyond. And there is even a chance the player becomes an All-Pro in no time at all.
