Carolina Panthers Player No. 1: Keith Kirkwood (WR)

The Carolina Panthers look particularly strong at the wide receiver position heading into the season. They have a number of players who can make a real difference. And if quarterback Teddy Bridgewater can get enough time to go through his progressions, it is hard to envisage the offense not thriving under new coordinator Joe Brady.

While the likes of D.J. Moore, Robby Anderson, and Curtis Samuel will rightfully see the majority of targets. There are two or three others on the roster that also have the scope to do some real damage with the targets that come their way.

One such individual is Keith Kirkwood, who joined the Panthers on a one-year, $800,000 deal in free agency. The wideout is familiar with head coach Matt Rhule from their time together at Temple. So he should be well up to speed with what is expected in the coming months.

The former undrafted player has spent time working with offensive coordinator Joe Brady and Teddy Bridgewater with the New Orleans Saints. And this familiarity could see Kirkwood become a difference-maker if he sees some significant time on the field.

Kirkwood was used sparingly by the Saints in 2019. A fresh start is just what the receiver needs at this stage of his career. And it is hard to argue the fact that the Panthers represent his best fit next season.
