Carolina Panthers Player No. 4: Yetur Gross-Matos (DE)

The likes of Derrick Brown and Jeremy Chinn have received more headlines that Yetur Gross-Matos following the 2020 NFL Draft. But there is every chance that the former Penn State standout can emerge as a potential star in the making during his rookie campaign.

The Panthers are loaded on their defensive front. And this is also something that can benefit Gross-Matos considerably. His pass-rushing productivity was there for all to see in college. And if he can add a little more to his game, then Carolina is going to have an exceptional player on their hands.

To say Gross-Matos was a force to be reckoned with during his final two years in college would be something of an understatement. The edge rusher secured 17.5 sacks, 94 combined tackles, 59 solo tackles, and an astonishing 34 tackles for loss. There are some things that the prospect needs to work on. But the ceiling regarding his development is enormously high.

Defensive coordinator Phil Snow will be relishing the thought of utilizing Gross-Matos anywhere along the defensive line. There is also the possibility of the rookie getting some time at outside linebacker. But his run support will need to improve if he is used in this position.

Gross-Matos should have plenty of space to work in with others commanding significant attention. And going under-the-radar will suit the player just fine as he goes in search of making an instant impression.
