Carolina Panthers Player No. 3: Taylor Moton (OT)

The Carolina Panthers go into the season with plenty of questions surrounding their offensive line. This is an area of real concern and appears to be the weak link on their defense.

One position where they could have a player capable of prolonged consistency is right tackle Taylor Moton. The imposing figure has made a tremendous start to his career. And he has a lot riding on next season as he looks to secure a multi-million-dollar extension in 2021.

Moton is a commanding presence on the edge. And he has proven adept at coping with even the best pass-rushers in the league.

Moving him over to left tackle becomes a realistic option next spring. And this would ultimately come with a contract that would undoubtedly make him one of the highest-paid at the position.

Spotrac expects Moton to command an annual salary of $14 million when he gets to the bargaining table. Given the way the lineman has performed over the last two years, Carolina would be foolish to part ways with someone who could be a bookend for the next seven years.

It would be a big surprise if Moton wasn’t part of the NFL Network’s Top-100 players in 2020. He is arguably the league’s best up and coming tackle. And another campaign of exceptional protection is going to attract plenty of suitors if he makes it to the free-agent market.
