Carolina Panthers Player No. 1: Larry Warford (OL)
One name that immediately jumps out as a good fit for the Carolina Panthers is Larry Warford. The offensive lineman was released by the New Orleans Saints this offseason. And he would be an instant upgrade on anything the organization currently has on the interior.
Warford has been consistent over a number of years as a prime protector on the inside. He is reportedly looking for an annual salary of $7 million. And although the Panthers would probably have to move some money around to get a deal done. This is something the franchise has been more than willing to do this offseason if they identify a player of interest.
The former third-round pick out of Kentucky is a stout presence against the run. And his hand placement and strength off the block make him a useful asset to have in passing situations. Warford has given up just seven sacks over the last four seasons. And he is coming off a 2019 campaign that saw him earn a creditable 73.1 grade from Pro Football Focus.
Carolina is currently going into the season with John Miller, Michael Schofield, and Dennis Daley as their preferred options at guard. Warford would instantly move to No. 1 on the depth chart if the Panthers made this move. And this potential signing would improve the fortunes of quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and running back Christian McCaffrey an endless amount.
