3 free-agents who could start for the Panthers in 2020

Carolina Panthers Player No. 2: Logan Ryan (CB)
The Carolina Panthers did bring in Eli Apple on a one-year, $3 million deal to boost their cornerback room in 2020. But questions remain as to whether the former No. 10 overall pick is capable of being a prolific starter in the NFL.
Donte Jackson is cemented as their No. 1 option. And the Panthers do have high hopes for fourth-rounder Troy Pride Jr. going forward. However, putting too much pressure on the Notre Dame product early on could be detrimental to his long-term prospects. So the front office might decide that another veteran with a starting-caliber is needed on the backend.

This becomes more likely when one considers the strength of passing attacks on Carolina’s schedule in 2020. One player that could enter the discussion is Logan Ryan, who remains unsigned and is arguably the best corner on the free-agent market.
Ryan played a leading role for the Tennessee Titans during their memorable playoff run last time out. This was not enough for the player to earn a new deal with the organization. And there is little doubt that he would be a tremendous addition to Phil Snow’s defense.
The former third-round selection can operate on the outside or in the slot with equal impact. He achieved a 64.9 grade from Pro Football Focus in 2019 after giving up 80 receptions from an incredible 114 targets thrown his way.
Should the Panthers work more money magic and get someone like Ryan to the franchise. He is a day one starter that has the potential to sure up a group that goes into the campaign with more questions than answers.
