Carolina Panthers Reason No. 2: Dak Prescott’s ability to handle the spotlight

There is no team in the NFL that is talked about more than the Dallas Cowboys. Owner Jerry Jones does an incredible job of keeping his team in the spotlight no matter what time of years it is. And this has put additional pressure on Dak Prescott to get the job done.

While the jury might still be out given the Cowboys’ 8-8 record in 2019. Prescott performed exceptionally well with limited tools at his disposal. No. 1 wide receiver Amari Cooper seemed to go missing after starting well. And although Michael Gallup gave a good account of himself. These problems forced the front office to allocate their first-round pick on a wideout with enormous potential in CeeDee Lamb.

Prescott has a strong character that has seen him remained composure in the pressure cooker atmosphere in Dallas. His demeanor and how the player conducts himself on and off the field has been more than worthy of a bumper new deal. And it is peculiar that an agreement has not been reached.

If Teddy Bridgewater fails to cope with the pressure of playing in Cam Newton’s shadow. Then it is going to force the Panthers’ hand regarding a replacement. Players of Prescott’s quality do not come up on the free-agent market too often. So it would be foolish not to at least explore the possibility.

Prescott would be more than capable of handling the pressure of replacing Newton long-term. Whether he feels slighted enough to take on a challenge such as this is another matter entirely. But his experience of performing consistently in the spotlight would be a substantial asset to Carolina.
