Carolina Panthers: 2011 NFL Draft do-over (6 Rounds)

Carolina Panthers 2011 Draft Pick No. 1: Cam Newton (QB)
With the first pick in the draft, the Carolina Panthers selected Cam Newton. The quarterback came off one of the greatest college seasons of all-time winning the Heisman trophy and leading the Auburn Tigers to a National Title. This was the perfect pick.
There are other players like Von Miller, Julio Jones, J.J. Watt, and Tyron Smith who are still some of the best at their positions. But none of them impacted their franchise the way Newton has helped the Panthers.
Newton made the Panthers an instant must-watch team because he was producing amazing highlights every Sunday. The player threw for 4,051 yards and 21 touchdowns his rookie year. He also won Rookie of the Year and was named to the Pro Bowl.
Newton went on to be dominant for the next seven seasons. He led the Panthers to four different playoff appearances and a Super Bowl in 2015.
Everyone remembers Newton’s 2015 MVP run where he led the Panthers to a 15-1 record and a Super Bowl appearance. That season he threw for a career-high 35 touchdowns and also ran for ten touchdowns.
Unfortunately, Newton’s time with the Panthers has come to an end this offseason when the Panthers released him after signing Teddy Bridgewater. Panthers’ fans will always remember him for being one of the most entertaining players this league has ever seen.
