Carolina Panthers: 3 trade targets from the Los Angeles Chargers
By Dean Jones
Carolina Panthers trade target No. 2: Desmond King (CB)
Desmond King has performed well during his time with the Los Angeles Chargers. But the arrival of Chris Harris has left him on the outside looking in when it comes to a starting berth.
There is a chance that King will be their nickel corner in 2020. But the player might want a bigger role and this makes him an intriguing option for the Carolina Panthers via the trade market.

The organization lost No. 1 option, James Bradberry, to the New York Giants in free agency. But there is real hope that Donte Jackson can fill the void despite his lack of experience covering the best wide receivers in the business.
Eli Apple and fourth-round pick Troy Pride Jr. are set to fill in the other starting roles. But it is hard to argue that King doesn’t represent a considerable upgrade on these two options.
His 2019 contribution earned King a creditable 70.9 grade from Pro Football Focus. But he is currently heading into the final year of his rookie deal with plenty of uncertainty about his overall aspirations with the franchise going forward.
This is a situation that the Panthers and others across the league should be monitoring carefully. King might well be available on the free-agent market next spring. But if Carolina or someone else wants to get the player and avoid complications, then making a call for a possible trade is not out of the realms of possibility.
