Carolina Panthers trade target No. 3: Kyzir White (LB)

The Los Angeles Chargers were fortune enough to secure the services of Oklahoma’s standout linebacker Kenneth Murray in the 2020 NFL Draft. While this will do their defense the world of good. It does hamper the hopes of Kyzir White making an impression with the organization.

White has made some eye-catching plays during his two-year stint in the NFL so far. He is versatile enough to play on and outside or as a middle linebacker. And this is something that the Carolina Panthers made a point of coveting throughout Matt Rhule’s first few months at the helm.

This is an area that still could do with some more reinforcements. And Carolina will need to act quickly if Tahir Whitehead and Jermaine Carter do not live up to their billing.

White represents a young player that can make a difference with more time on the field. And he seems like a good scheme fit under Panthers’ defensive coordinator Phil Snow.

The former fourth-round pick out of West Virginia is heading into the penultimate year of his deal and will make a $750,000 base salary in 2020. Acquiring White might not cost the earth thanks to Murray’s arrival in Los Angeles. And it also makes sense from a financial perspective.

Whitehead and Carter will get a chance to prove themselves. But if things go south quickly, it might leave the Panthers with no other alternative than to look at bringing in a more capable player via trade.
