Carolina Panthers prediction No. 3: Donte Jackson will make the Pro Bowl

Expectations surrounding Donte Jackson couldn’t be much higher heading into the season. The cornerback has come incredible pressure on his shoulders to produce the goods as the No. 1 option in Carolina. And the Panthers will be counting on the player to take his game to new heights.

Jackson has all the tools needed to become a successful starter at the corner position. The former LSU standout has elite speed and fluidity. And if he can cut silly mistakes out of his game, then the Panthers are going to have a real player on their hands.

Things will not be easy for Jackson by any stretch of the imagination. He is coming up against some of the best in the business. And how he copes with increased demand is going to tell the coaching staff plenty about his long-term aspirations with the organization.

This is a challenge that Jackson is sure to relish. The Panthers are counting on him to fill the void left by James Bradberry. And there is even a chance he can be an upgrade on the free-agent departure if the second-round pick reaches his ceiling.

If Jackson can hold his own and even perform well against a higher class of wide receiver, then this is sure to catch the eye. It could see the corner selected to his first Pro Bowl following the season. And a multi-year extension couldn’t be far behind.
