Which rookies on the Carolina Panthers are heading into training camp with a chip on their shoulder?
The 2020 NFL Draft class of the Carolina Panthers will finally take to the field in a professional environment after months of uncertainty. Rookies are reporting for duty later today (Tuesday) for their first taste of face-to-face interaction at the next level. And it promises to be a crucial period for every individual involved.
Carolina made history with an all-defense draft this spring. This is something that was welcome given the Panthers’ serious lack of depth. But how they get on in the coming weeks will tell the coaching staff plenty about what to expect when competitive action gets underway.
There is plenty to like not only about their initial choices in the draft. But the decision-makers also brought in an intriguing set of undrafted free agents who are looking to make the 53-man roster.
Players such as No. 7 overall pick Derrick Brown and former Southern Illinois standout Jeremy Chinn are coming into camp with high expectations. Others enter the prominent preparation period with a chip on their shoulder after being slighted in some way in recent months.
This is something that they can use as an extra source of motivation in pursuit of making an impact in the pros. Training camp scenarios always produce some surprise packages that end up making a significant impression. And this is something the Panthers’ rookie class should have in their sights.
