Panthers training camp: 4 rookies with a chip on their shoulder

Carolina Panthers rookie No. 3: Omar Bayless (WR)
After putting together one of the most productive season of any wide receiver 2019. For Omar Bayless not to hear his name called in the 2020 NFL Draft was a significant slight on his talent.
The former Arkansas State sensation was a devastating presence all over the field last season. And it didn’t take the Carolina Panthers long to pick him up on the undrafted free-agent market. He will now get the chance to make a name for himself at the next level. But the wideout spot is arguably Carolina’s strongest in terms of depth.
Bayless was at the top of his game last time out on his way to 93 receptions, 1,653 yards, and 17 touchdowns. This also included a lofty 17.8 yards-per-catch average and some outstanding individual accolades.
He eventually finished second in the FBS for receiving yards and was the No. 3 receiver in the country in the touchdown standings. Bayless was crowned 2019 Sun Belt Player of the Year, earned a Sporting News All-American 2nd Team selection, was chosen for the Walter Camp All-American 2nd Team, and the player also made the AP All-American 3rd Team.
This year’s wide receiver class was the deepest in recent memory. This left Bayless on the outside looking in. But there is no doubting the credentials he brings to the table during training camp.
Bayless is riding on the crest of a wave. And this is something he needs to take full advantage of. There are some questions regarding his ability to create separation against NFL cornerbacks. But the player is not short of motivation after being overlooked during the draft.
