Panthers: 4 free agents worth signing with remaining cap space

Carolina Panthers Player No. 2: Ron Leary (OL)
Ron Leary has built a solid career for himself after going undrafted in 2011. The offensive lineman accumulated plenty of experience with the Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos. But he is heading into the twilight of his career.
This is an area of the field that poses a potential problem for the Carolina Panthers. The organization traded away stud guard Trai Turner to the Los Angeles Chargers in exchange for veteran tackle Russell Okung. And it remains to be seen whether John Miller, Michael Schofield, and Dennis Daley can plug the gap.
One might argue that Leary is a significant upgrade on all three of Carolina’s current options. He gave up just one sack from 758 snaps in 2019. But eight penalties saw his Pro Football Focus grade dip to 58.6.
If Leary can rid himself of these discipline problems on the line of scrimmage. Then he is well worth taking a chance on.
The veteran is probably looking for one more shot following his release by the Broncos earlier this offseason. And given the fact he has made $32 million during his career, it appears unlikely it would come with any great financial commitment from the Panthers’ perspective.
Much will depend on how the current unit clicks during camp. But Leary is an intriguing option if they go in this direction.
