Panthers: 4 free agents worth signing with remaining cap space

Carolina Panthers Player No. 3: Julian Stanford (LB)
Another eye-catching option on the free-agent market that the Carolina Panthers could afford is Julian Stanford. The versatile linebacker has shown tremendous promise during his time on the field in recent years. And his name is another that stands out for a potential recruit.
Stanford has been a nice complementary piece with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Detroit Lions, New York Jets, and Buffalo Bills throughout his career. This hasn’t resulted in the player getting a prominent starting role. But his 2019 form suggests it is something he could do if given the opportunity.
The player was tremendous for the Bills when he saw the field. This resulted in a creditable 66.6 grade from Pro Football Focus. But it was not enough to get the player a longer-term commitment from the organization.
There does appear to be a place up for grabs in Carolina opposite outside linebacker Shaq Thompson heading into camp. The likes of Jermaine Carter and Christian Miller appear the favorites to assume the role. But if they do not do enough in the coming weeks, it might be worth the Panthers bringing in someone with the upside of Stanford.
He is versatile enough to play anywhere across the second level. And Stanford also has the scope to get even better with a more prominent role.
