Panthers: 4 free agents worth signing with remaining cap space

Carolina Panthers Player No. 4: Lance Kendricks (TE)
There doesn’t appear to be any sort of depth behind No. 1 tight end option Ian Thomas. The Carolina Panthers placed a lot of faith in the former Indiana standout to reach new heights following the departure of Greg Olsen. But if things do not go according to plan, the organization will need a backup who can assist in the passing game.
This doesn’t appear to be on the Panthers’ roster currently. And someone like Lance Kendricks might be a good pickup at a minimal cost.

The veteran tight end has proven to be a reliable pass-catching presence across the middle. And although he is more suited to a backup role at this stage of his career. This is all that the Panthers need thanks to the presence of Thomas.
Kendricks has a career catch success percentage of 61.9 during his career at four different teams. This has resulted in 244 receptions, 2,555 receiving yards, 19 touchdowns, and an impressive 125 first downs.
The player is 32-years-old, so regression won’t be far off. But if Carolina can get one more season of solid production, it would give them a security blanket if Thomas fails to make the most out of his chance to shine.
The Panthers are loaded with players who can make a real difference on offense. And it would be a shock if Thomas didn’t boost his credentials with plenty of space to work in 2020.
