Carolina Panthers Player No. 2: Robby Anderson (WR)

The Carolina Panthers made an eye-catching move by bringing in free-agent Robby Anderson to the organization this offseason. The wide receiver has been a valuable contributor with the New York Jets despite some indifferent quarterback play. And there is real hope that the player can make great strides in Joe Brady’s offense with a more consistent signal-caller distributing the ball in Teddy Bridgewater.

Anderson signed a fully guaranteed, two-year deal worth $20 million to reunite with his former college coach Matt Rhule. He is set to form a potentially prolific partnership opposite D.J. Moore. And with the presence of Curtis Samuel in the slot, it gives Carolina three wideouts that are up there with anything in the NFL.

The receiver will want to make his presence felt from the outset. So it is would be a shock if Anderson didn’t hit the ground running at training camp. He one of the league’s best downfield threats. And he is sure to get plenty of space to work in given the number of weapons that the Panthers have elsewhere.

This has the potential to be a masterstroke signing from the Panthers. The reduced offseason shouldn’t impact Anderson’s ability to contribute right away due to his familiarity with expectations under Rhule. And if the receiver reaches his potential, then the sky is the limit.
