Which members of the Carolina Panthers are realistic candidates to opt-out in 2020 over concerns in the current climate?

Plenty of prominent NFL players have already taken the decision to opt-out in 2020 due to concerns relating to the current climate. This is a trend that could increase in the coming days and weeks. And it would be a surprise if the Carolina Panthers were exempt from any further disruption other than Jordan Mack’s decision to sit out the campaign.

This would be yet another blow for new head coach Matt Rhule during an unprecedented start to his time with the Carolina Panthers. He is meeting a large majority of his roster for the first time this week at training camp. And it is a pivotal few weeks for his chances of making an instant impression next season.

There is so much uncertainty regarding the upcoming season that it is hard to work out which way it is going to go. The NFL’s carry on as normal approach regarding their bid to start on time might be commendable. But this is a situation that isn’t improving across the country and if anything, it is getting worse.

One only has to look at the situation involving the Miami Marlins in baseball just one week into their campaign to see just how quickly things can go wrong. This is deeply concerning for a sport that has as much contract as the NFL. And the likelihood of the schedule coming to a successful conclusion appears slim at best.

Here are four Panthers that could realistically opt-out next season. And the coaching staff need to have plenty of contingency plans in place in such an eventuality.
