To say that Tre Boston was far from happy with the agreement reached between the NFL and NFLPA would be an understatement. The player has been one of the more vocal on social media regarding the issues facing the league in the current climate. And this displeasure might lead to him opting out in 2020.
The Carolina Panthers have other alternatives at the safety spot after they drafted Jeremy Chinn and Kenny Robinson. But losing another locker room leader would represent a real blow.

Boston was superb for the organization in the first year back after a spell away with the Los Angeles Chargers and Arizona Cardinals. And this was enough to give the former North Carolina standout a three-year, $18 million contract extension with an $8 million signing bonus and a further $8 million guaranteed.
The veteran has made enough money during his career for finances not to become an issue in any decision he makes regarding participation in 2020. It is evident that he is simply not happy. But whether the player wants to sit out during one of his prime years is another matter entirely.
Carolina has plenty of questions to answer regarding their secondary next season. Boston is the one constant from those that filled prominent starting roles last time out. And he is one of the more indispensable players on the roster during the first year of Matt Rhule’s rebuild.
