Carolina Panthers Player No. 3: Curtis Samuel (WR)

Given the injury problems that Curtis Samuel has suffered during his time in the NFL so far. It would not be a surprise to see the wide receiver opt-out for the Carolina Panthers in 2020.

The former Ohio State standout had a minor procedure regarding an irregular heartbeat in 2018. And although there have not been any complications following this, it will undoubtedly come into Samuel’s thoughts when coming to a decision regarding whether to play.

Samuel is going to be relied upon heavily to make a real difference in a talented wideout group next season. Although he is going in as the No. 3 option, there is every chance he could outperform Robby Anderson if the player takes another leap forward.

The second-round pick in 2018 is heading into a contract year and is looking for a significant payday either with the Panthers or elsewhere next spring. Sitting out the campaign would jeopardize this. But as we have stated previously, health comes first over practically anything with Covid-19 cases continuing to surge across the country.

Losing the player would be something of a blow. But Carolina is loaded at the wide receiver position heading into 2020. They have a number of talented players who could make an impact. But few possess the elusiveness and game-changing ability that Samuel brings with the ball in his hands.
