Carolina Panthers Question No. 3: Can Jordan Scarlett make a second-year leap?

Jordan Scarlett didn’t see much of the field for the Carolina Panthers during his rookie year. But is this something that might change during his second season as a professional?

The former fifth-round pick caught the eye during his three-year stay with the Florida Gators. This saw Scarlett accumulate 1,846 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. So there is definitely some potential where the player is concerned.

He gets a fresh start with a new coaching staff during training camp. And although anyone unseating Christian McCaffrey as a starter is unrealistic, to put it mildly. There should be plenty of competition for places further down the depth chart in the coming weeks.

Scarlett is an elusive runner shows patience in terms of waiting for blocks to develop. But there is just no telling just what sort of impact he can make in the NFL long-term given his lack of activity last time out.

It is going to be interesting to see just what sort of strides Scarlett can make during his sophomore season. The back will have learned a lot from being part of an NFL roster last season. But he will need to prove his worth during camp and beyond to give him the best possible chance of sticking around long-term.

What comes next will be ultimately down to the player. But Scarlett should be highly motivated to make the most out of another exciting opportunity to impress.
