Panthers: 5 toughest matchups for Donte Jackson outside NFC South
By Dean Jones
Carolina Panthers No. 4: Adam Thielen (WR) – Minnesota Vikings
There will be plenty of responsibility on Adam Thielen’s shoulders next season. The Minnesota Vikings traded troublesome but talented wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Buffalo Bills. And although they selected Justin Jefferson in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the onus will be on their Pro Bowler to deliver the goods.
Thielen had trouble staying healthy in 20020. And any replication of this next time around is going to be detrimental to the Vikings’ chances of making the postseason once.
This will be another stiff test for Donte Jackson during the campaign. And one that is going to be another great learning curve during his first year as the No. 1 option with the Carolina Panthers.
The Panthers’ week 12 matchup will see Jackson lock horns against an extremely intelligent route-runner in Thielen. The undrafted prospect is a true rags to riches story in the NFL. And although he is never going to beat you with elite speed. The wideout has a superb football IQ and always seems to be on-point with star quarterback Kirk Cousins.
Jackson will need to have his wits about him when he comes up against Thielen. The player has recorded 323 receptions, 4,315 receiving yards, 25 touchdowns, 207 first downs, and yards-per-catch average of 13.4 during a standout career to date. And he is always on hand to come up with big plays when it matters most.
