Carolina Panthers: 4 candidates for training camp MVP

Carolina Panthers Player No. 3: Brian Burns (DE)
The upcoming campaign could be a big one for Brian Burns. The defensive end showed tremendous promise during his first season with the Carolina Panthers. And a substantial leap forward is expected in his second year as a professional.
Burns is a dynamic pass-rusher who managed 7.5 sacks from just 42.9 percent of Carolina’s defensive snaps in 2019. This represents outstanding production from the former first-round pick. And it would be something of a surprise if the player didn’t thrive further with more time on the field.

He is now the team’s No. 1 pass-rushing option following a number of veteran departures. Being a three-down lineman brings a different set of challenges. But this is a challenge that the Florida State product should relish.
His explosiveness off the line of scrimmage is up there with the very best. If Burns can add some more moves to his repertoire, in addition to improving run-stopping, then the Panthers are going to have some player on their hands.
Carolina managed to get plenty of sacks in 2019. But it didn’t exactly do their defense any good in the grand scheme of things. Their defensive front looks to be an area of real strength once again. And Burns will be at the forefront of everything good next season and hopefully, for many years to come.
Burns is a player who should dominate during camp. And this is also going to be a stern test for the Panthers’ revamped offensive line in the coming weeks.
