Carolina Panthers: 4 new individual battles to watch against the Saints

Carolina Panthers Matchup No. 4: Robby Anderson vs Janoris Jenkins
Robby Anderson’s presence on the Carolina Panthers is huge. He is regarded as one of the NFL’s best downfield threats. And his potential alongside D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel is something that could put some significant numbers on the board.
The former New York Jet has worked with Matt Rhule before during their time together at Temple. And the head coach identified Anderson early as someone who could make a real difference to their overall fortunes.
One would expect Moore to be shadowed by Marshon Lattimore whenever the Panthers play the New Orleans Saints next season. This leaves Anderson with the prospect of pitting his talent against Janoris Jenkins twice a season.
Jenkins was a signing late in the season by the Saints in 2019. And he showed tremendous promise during his brief stint on the roster. The seasoned veteran has enjoyed a tremendous amount of success with the New York Giants. And the organization is expecting plenty from a player that signed a two-year, $16.75 million deal with the Saints.
The cornerback gave up just 45 receptions from 81 targets on his way to a 68.8 grade from Pro Football Focus last season. Jenkins is the wrong side of 30 now. Anderson should fancy his chances of doing some real damage in this individual battle. But much will depend on how the offensive line holds up against a formidable New Orleans pass-rush.
