What are some of the big questions facing the Carolina Panthers defensive line as they return to training camp?

The Carolina Panthers are back in the building for their initial testing period during training camp. Things already look far different thanks to the current climate. But the team has only one confirmed opt-out in 2020 so far.

This is a situation that might change before the reported Wednesday deadline. But regardless of what sort of roster new head coach Matt Rhule has at his disposal. The task awaiting him with the Carolina Panthers is substantial.

It is no doubt an exciting project for the former Baylor man. And one that played a huge role in him taking the job in the first place. However, building up college programs successfully does not necessarily equate to immediate success in the NFL. And plenty of coaches have failed miserably at the next level after arriving with big reputations.

While the Panthers do have some outstanding offensive weapons going into the season. Some vast changes across the defense have left plenty of uncertainty.

Key veterans were moved on for the greater good. And Carolina’s iconic linebacker Luke Kuechly announced his shock retirement after eight seasons.

Their defensive line got into the backfield consistently in 2019. But this failed to make the necessary impact on their overall fortunes. Much more is expected of this current group next season. But it is vital they come together during what little time they spend together during training camp.

Here are four big questions facing the Panthers’ defensive line in the weeks and months ahead.
