Carolina Panthers Player No. 4: DaVonte Lambert (DL)

DaVonte Lambert is entering the last chance saloon regarding a possible career in the NFL. And it is essential he makes the most out of his training camp experience with the Carolina Panthers.

It has been a rocky road for Lambert in his pursuit of making an impact as a professional. He went undrafted after totaling 48 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and a forced fumble during a college career that spanned 20 games. And there was plenty to like about how he performed during his rookie campaign as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

There is little doubt that a dislocated wrist during his second year was a hammer blow. The NFL is an unforgiving place that waits for no man. And he has been fighting to get his career back on track ever since.

Lambert’s journey to Carolina came the way of a stint in the XFL with the St. Louis Battlehawks. So there is every chance the edge rusher can hit the ground running in a bid to make the 53-man roster.

One problem that Lambert might have is the strength of Carolina’s defensive front. Their pass-rushing options look formidable going into 2020. And this might leave the former Auburn star on the outside looking in.

Only time will tell as to whether Lambert can do enough at camp. But the player will not be found wanting for effort.
